Course Description:
This module is a compulsory module for students in the MSc (Environmental Management) [MEM] programme, and is open to all law students (undergraduate and graduate), as well as graduate students from other disciplines. It is aimed at providing students with an overview of environmental law and its development, including the legal and administrative structures for their implementation, from the international, regional and national perspectives. It focuses on basic pollution laws relating to air, water, waste, hazardous substances and noise; nature conservation and wildlife trade laws, as well as environmental health and safety laws. In the context of national laws, Singapore's laws and the laws of selected ASEAN countries will be examined.

Mode of Assessment: Essay - 40% [Due in Wk 12] & 2Hr Take Home Exam - 60% [Mon, 29 November 2021 (1pm-3pm)]

Preclusions: Students who have taken LX5103 Environmental Law are precluded. Students who have taken Env 2102 in the Bachelor in Environmental Studies (BES) program are precluded.

Prerequisites: For Law students: NUS Compulsory Core Law Curriculum or common law equivalent.
