Semester 2 AY 2011/2012 Module Registration Information for LL.B. & Exchange Students

All students who are
required to read law electives must register on-line for their modules. - Do take note of the queue Priority in Module allocation as set out in Point (3) below; - Balloting will not take place until after the close of registration. |

2. | Students should feel free to contact their personal or academic tutors if they would like advice on choosing electives. Students who are interested in a particular module but who have questions about it should email the course convener. | ||||||

Priority for Elective Modules* Priority in elective modules is allocated in the following manner:

4. | Students will be required to register for 20 credits. DDP students and students offsetting credits from the NYU summer term, who may have fewer Law credits to register for, must indicate the number of credits required on the Online Module Registration form during submission. | ||||||

Students who wish to take more than 20 credits must first seek the approval of the Vice Dean (Academic Affairs). |

Non-law Modules for Credits [Not applicable to GLB, Exchange and CDP (LLB/MPP) students] | |||||||
6. | LL.B. Students are not required to read any non-law modules offered by other faculties at NUS. | ||||||
7. | LL.B. students are permitted, without any special approval, to take a total of 12 credits of modules from other faculties from a list of modules approved by the Dean [Click here for approved non-law modules] . This means that without any approval from the Dean, students can do: (a) 12 credits of non-law modules in Year 3; (b) 12 credits of non-law modules in Year 4; or (c) 8 credits of non-law modules in Year 3 and 4 credits of non-law modules in Year 4 or vice versa. However, the modules taken in each year must be from the list of modules approved by the Dean for that academic year. | ||||||
8. | Students taking non-law modules must ensure there are no clashes in the class and examination timetable with their law modules. Students are advised to regularly check the websites of their respective non-law modules for any updates. | ||||||
9. | LL.B. students may, with the permission of the Dean, do more than 12 credits of non-law modules in other faculties for credit. LL.B. students may also, with the permission of the Dean, read modules that are not on the list approved by the Dean. LL.B. students who wish to request special permission of the Dean for either of these purposes should send an email to the Vice Dean (Academic Affairs) setting out their request and the reasons, and copied to lawundergrad@nus.edu.sg | ||||||
10. | Non-law modules read under the scheme described above will count towards fulfilling the number of credits required to complete the LL.B. degree and count towards the class of honours. | ||||||

Students, who intend to do non-law modules for credit must first drop the equivalent number of Law credits by the timeline stipulated, submit the “Drop for CORS” form before they are able to bid for the non-law modules during CORS Registration. Minor Modules for Credits [Not applicable to GLB, Exchange and CDP (LLB/MPP) students] | |||||||

LL.B. Students interested in doing approved minors must “declare” their Minor before the end of their 5th semester of study via CORs. For the list of approved Minor Programmes, and further details, please click HERE . |

Non-Law Modules for Enrichment (Cross Faculty Modules)[For LL.B. student only] | |||||||
13. | LL.B. Students may be permitted to take modules in other faculties for enrichment purposes. In such cases, the modules will not count towards fulfilling the credits required to complete the LL.B. degree. Nor will the grades and marks in such modules be taken into account in determining the award of honours. However, the name of the modules and the grades obtained will appear on the transcript. | ||||||
